چکیده

Ahstraet -A mathematical model for healing tendon was developed refkcting correlations of biomlchanical and biochemical factors. The model provided values for the physical and mechanical property changes during isometric thermal denaturation utilizing differences associated with treatment and length of healing period, along with the selected biochemical covariates of hydroxyprobne, protein, and hexosamine concentration kvels. Application of the biochemical values to the model estimated the physical and mechanical property changes of both the wounded and control tendon when the property changes between the two groups were small. When property differences were large, the wounded group was predictable for all property changes except dry tendon weight. The model showed the fifth healing day to be different from the other healing periods supporting the observation that day 5 was the shortest possibk teat day. Significance of the modeling approach to tendon healing is discussed. ,

Effects of flunixin meglumine on experimental tendon wound healing: A histopathological and mechanical study in rabbits

Tendons are frequently targets of injury in sports and work. Whether nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) have beneficial effects on tendon healing is still a matter of debate. This study was conducted to evaluate effects of flunixin meglumine (FM) on tendon healing after experimentally induced acute trauma. Twenty eight adult male New Zealand White rabbits were subjected to complete t...

Fabrication of novel tubular scaffold for tendon repair from chitosan in combination with zinc nanoparticles

Chitosan bears numerous properties, such as biocompatibility, biodegradability and non-toxicity making it suitable for use in different biomedical fields. Zinc (Zn) is required for fibroblasts proliferation and collagen synthesis as essential elements of wound healing. Its nanoparticles are well known for their capability to enhance wound healing by cell adhesion and migration improvement throu...

Use of Platelet Rich Plasma and Hyaluronic Acid in the Treatment of Complications of Achilles Tendon Reconstruction

BACKGROUND The platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and hyaluronic acid (HA) constitute a system of tissue growth that can regenerate damaged tissue. This study was performed to evaluate the effect of PRP and HA in treatment of complications of Achilles tendon reconstruction. METHODS We selected ten patients affected by Achilles tendon injuries resulting from post-surgical complications subseque...

Wound management with negative pressure wound therapy in postoperative infection after open reconstruction of chronic Achilles tendon rupture

INTRODUCTION Deep infection after reconstruction of chronic Achilles tendon rupture is a major and intractable complication. CASE REPORT We report a case of late deep infection following a surgery for chronic Achilles tendon rupture, and its simple and successful treatment with negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT). Six months following the reconstruction of chronic Achilles tendon rupture, ...

The Effects of Synovium Transplants on Tendon Healing In Vitro

INTRODUCTION: Injuries to the finger flexor tendons are common, and sometimes result in considerable disability. Although flexor tendon healing follows similar stages of wound healing as other tissues, tendinous tissues require a longer time to heal than other connective tissues, which may be due to their hypocellular and hypovascular nature. The nutrition of flexor tendon comes from intratendi...

Moderate treadmill running exercise prior to tendon injury enhances wound healing in aging rats

The effect of exercise on wound healing in aging tendon was tested using a rat moderate treadmill running (MTR) model. The rats were divided into an MTR group that ran on a treadmill for 4 weeks and a control group that remained in cages. After MTR, a window defect was created in the patellar tendons of all rats and wound healing was analyzed. We found that MTR accelerated wound healing by prom...
